I remember this like it was yesterday. I was in my last year of Junior High school. This was right on the cusp of what sparked the wrestling boom of the 2000′s.
At the lunch table the following day we all thought “Razor Ramon goes to WCW,” and we would finally witness “WWF vs WCW.”
WWE actually sued WCW for copyright infringement for this. WWE claimed Hall was using the same character. They didn’t win, but it’s kind of an interesting case…when he says, “You know who I am,” and starts speaking with his fake Cuban accent, everyone knows he’s doing the Razor character but not quite enough that they can lose in a civil trial.
I dont think Scott Hall get enough credit for his contribution in professional wrestling. This moment is what turned the tide in WCW’s favor and started the Monday Night Wars. Even today most wrestling fans forget how big an impact Hall and Nash had in WCW.
